Personal AI Calculus Tutor Online That Teaches the Method
Paste the integral or photograph the page you are stuck on. The tutor asks which rule the expression is asking for before it applies anything, because choosing the technique is the part that is actually being examined.
What is the AskSia AI calculus tutor?
The AskSia AI calculus tutor is a personal tutoring tool that teaches technique selection rather than returning finished antiderivatives. It opens with a hint about which rule the expression is asking for, walks the working line by line with each substitution named, closes with a question back to you, and builds quizzes weighted toward the techniques you keep choosing wrongly. You can paste an expression, photograph a problem set, upload lecture slides or a recorded lecture. It covers limits and continuity, differentiation, applications, integration techniques, sequences and series, and multivariable foundations, and answers in eight languages. Students on the AskSia A+ plan are additionally covered by the Grade Confidence Guarantee. AskSia is a study aid, not an answer key.
Calculus exams rarely test whether you can differentiate. They test whether you picked the right tool. These three are where the marks go.
Reaching for a technique before reading the expression
Integration by parts on something that was a substitution costs the whole question. The tutor asks you to classify the integrand first, which is the habit that transfers to the exam.
Substituting without changing the limits
A definite integral evaluated with the original limits after a u-substitution gives a clean, wrong number. The tutor flags the limits at the moment you substitute, not at the end.
Picking a convergence test by feel
Ratio test on a p-series is inconclusive and wastes half the time allowed. The tutor makes you say what the general term looks like before any test is applied.
Your marks are not lost evenly, so your practice is not spread evenly. Try this one.
Was dieser Tutor abdeckt
Calculus I through III, plus the series work that decides most second semester grades. Upload your slides and AskSia follows your course's notation.
Studying AP Calculus AB or BC? BC reaches series a full semester before most first year courses. Continuing on to multivariable or differential equations?
Four things a calculus tutor does that a chat box does not
Why a finished antiderivative teaches nothing
Nobody loses calculus marks because they cannot differentiate a polynomial. They lose them because they spent twelve minutes on parts when the integral was a substitution. The tutor leads with the classification, not the result, so the decision you actually have to make in the exam is the one you practise.
Personal here means it remembers which decision keeps failing. If your substitutions are clean but your series tests are guesses, those are tracked separately, and revision weeks later opens on the second one. Connect your LMS once and it also picks up your course's notation, including whether your lecturer writes dy/dx or y prime and which convergence tests are examinable.
It tutors in English, German, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, so you can reason through a derivation in your first language and still present working in the language of assessment.
Fragen, die Studierende wirklich stellen
Does it just give me the answer to the integral?
No. It opens with a hint about which technique the integrand is asking for, and walks the full working only when you ask. Each walkthrough ends with a variation put back to you. You can request the finished answer at any point, but it will not lead with it.
Can it show the steps rather than the final value?
Yes, and the steps are named rather than just performed. You see which substitution was chosen and why, where the limits changed, and which line the sign convention entered, because that is what a marker is reading.
Does it cover multivariable and differential equations?
It covers the multivariable foundations here, and there are dedicated tutors for multivariable calculus and differential equations when your course moves on.
Can I photograph a handwritten attempt?
Yes. Photograph the page, crossings out included, and the tutor identifies the earliest line where the working broke rather than restarting the problem cleanly.
Will it use my lecturer's notation?
It will once your slides are connected. Courses differ on notation for derivatives, on which convergence tests are examinable, and on how much justification a limit argument needs before it earns full marks.
Is using an AI calculus tutor allowed?
AskSia is built as a study aid, not an answer key. Using it to understand a technique, check where your own working went wrong, or generate extra practice sits in the same category as a tutorial. Assessment rules differ, so check your own faculty's AI policy before using any tool on graded work.
