The unit guide on the learning management system for the offering each guide names. VU's assessment standards require the guide to set out each task, and to explain in writing any hurdle and the learning outcome it tests, so the unit guide is the reference for our tables.
A hurdle is a condition that must be met to pass a unit. Students must be told in the unit guide and at the start of the unit why a task is a hurdle and what their options are if they fail it, which are covered by the supplementary assessment and conceded pass procedure.
Study Without Teaching Vacation, the study week before exams when there are no classes. Guides that cover a final exam say which tasks fall in the exam period that follows it.
The GPA is on a seven point scale, computed as the sum of each unit's grade value times its credit points divided by total credit points, truncated to two decimal places and updated each semester. The WAM is the overall course score from your marks and credit points. A High Distinction is 80 to 100 in a unit.
