Where the marks actually are
AP Statistics unit weights, and what that means for your plan.
The redesigned course is five units, not nine. Unit 1 is the heaviest at 20-30% and it now carries data collection as well as one-variable data, and regression, which used to be an end-of-course afterthought, is a unit of its own at 10-20%.

Syllabus order is not exam order, so Sia weights your study days by what each unit is worth rather than by when it is taught. College Board publishes unit weights as ranges, so they do not sum to 100%. The published weights are the units' weighting on the multiple-choice section of the exam. Justification, in context
A correct answer with no justification is a partial mark.
Statistics is the AP exam where the arithmetic is the easy part. Conditions have to be checked, conclusions have to be written in the context of the problem, and the four free-response questions are marked on the statistical practices rather than on the topic they happen to use.
Every inference answer is marked for its conditions
A correct test with a correct p-value and no conditions check loses marks. Sia checks the four-step structure rather than the number at the end.
Conclusions are marked in context
Reject the null is not a conclusion. The plan drills answers that name the population, the parameter and the practical meaning.
Unfamiliar settings are rehearsed as unfamiliarity
The multi-focus questions put a known method in a setting you have not seen. The skill is transfer, so it is practised that way rather than by revising more content.

Free response, inference
A city transport authority claims that at least 80% of its buses arrive within five minutes of the scheduled time. A commuter group takes a random sample of 250 arrivals from the authority's published log for the year and finds that 186 arrived within five minutes.
Is there convincing statistical evidence, at the α = 0.05 level, that the authority's claim overstates the true proportion?
Unit 3: Inference for categorical data, proportions. Written by AskSia in the published free-response format. This is not a College Board question, and AskSia does not reproduce official questions or past papers.

H0: p = 0.80 and Ha: p < 0.80, where p is the true proportion of all this authority's bus arrivals that are within five minutes of schedule.
Where the point goes. The parameter has to be defined in context. A response that writes only the symbols does not earn the point.
2Plan
One-sample z-test for a population proportion. Random: the 250 arrivals are a random sample. 10%: 250 is under 10% of all arrivals in a year. Large counts: np0 = 250(0.80) = 200 ≥ 10 and n(1 − p0) = 250(0.20) = 50 ≥ 10.
Where the point goes. The large-counts check uses p0, the null value, not the sample proportion. Using 0.744 here is the single most common way this point is lost.

p̂ = 186 / 250 = 0.744.
z = (0.744 − 0.80) / √(0.80 × 0.20 / 250) = −0.056 / 0.0253 = −2.21.
p-value = P(Z ≤ −2.21) ≈ 0.0136.
z = (0.744 − 0.80) / √(0.80 × 0.20 / 250) = −0.056 / 0.0253 = −2.21.
p-value = P(Z ≤ −2.21) ≈ 0.0136.
Where the point goes. The standard error in a test uses p0(1 − p0), not p̂(1 − p̂). That substitution is what separates a test from a confidence interval.
4Conclude
Because 0.0136 < 0.05, reject H0. There is convincing statistical evidence that the true proportion of this authority's buses arriving within five minutes of schedule is less than 0.80.
Where the point goes. A conclusion has to name the population and the parameter. Writing only “reject H0”, or saying the null is “accepted” or “proved”, loses the point.

AP exams are reported on a 1 to 5 scale. Your raw marks from both sections are combined using the published weightings, then converted to the final score. There is no penalty for a wrong or blank multiple-choice answer, so leaving one blank is never correct strategy. Scores are usually released in early July, and College Board publishes the exact 2027 score-access dates in spring 2027.
