The course outline for the term each guide names. Newcastle's course management procedures require the outline to state each task's weighting and any compulsory requirement, and guides carry the term they were built from so you can compare with the current outline.
Newcastle's name for a hurdle. Under the assessment framework at least one secure task worth 30 per cent or more must be compulsory, secure tasks must total at least 50 per cent, and a compulsory task can require a pass mark anywhere from 40 to 100 per cent. Our tables mark those rows.

The GPA is on a seven point scale: each grade's numeric value times the course unit value, summed and divided by the units, reported to one decimal place. The WAM averages your marks weighted by unit value and academic level. A High Distinction is 85 to 100 in a course.
