Innovation, Ambidexterity and Organisational Change
Invention creates novelty; innovation implements novelty to produce meaningful stakeholder value. Incremental and radical describe degree, while product, service, process and business-model innovation describe domains.
Innovation is a learning process from problem discovery through experimentation, selection, implementation and diffusion, with evidence gates that change commitment.
Exploration searches for future options and exploitation refines current capability. Structural, contextual and sequential ambidexterity manage the two logics differently. Organisational change requires diagnosis of content, process and context.
