From the subject outline UTS publishes for the session each guide names. UTS asks students to read the outline before the first teaching week because it fixes the weighting, due dates and return arrangements for every task; those can change between sessions, so treat the figures here as the offering they came from and check your current outline.
Under the Coursework Assessments Policy, a hurdle task is one you must pass to pass the subject: fail it and a fail is registered for the subject regardless of your other marks. Outlines must flag hurdle tasks and the compulsory components behind any X grade, and each guide names which rows in its assessment table are hurdles.
StuVac is the UTS study vacation. There is a mid-session StuVac and a final StuVac, and the final assessment period, which holds centrally conducted exams, faculty-run exams and major project deadlines, begins straight after the final StuVac. Guides that cover an exam say whether it is centrally conducted or faculty-based.
The WAM multiplies each subject mark by its credit points, adds those products across every subject attempted in the course including fails, and divides by the credit points attempted. Ungraded pass or fail subjects and credited subjects from other institutions are left out. A High Distinction is 85 to 100 in a subject.
