The design session
The fifth session turns mechanism into a schedule. Its stated content is spacing, interleaving, gear-shifting and spiralling, and it ends in a workshop that redesigns a blocked curriculum into an interleaved one. Everything in it follows from one sentence: spacing makes retrieval effortful again.
Spacing is not a device for covering material more often; it is a device for arranging that each return happens while recall is hard.
