English, redundancy and concision
A passage contains this sentence, with one portion underlined for replacement. The hand-drawn maps in the museum’s new wing are extremely fragile and delicate, so they are displayed under low light and rotated out of the case every three months. Alongside NO CHANGE, the replacements offered are fragile, of a fragile and delicate nature, and delicate as well as fragile.
Nothing underlined is ungrammatical. So what is the error, and which replacement does the answer key want?

1Name the item type
“Fragile” and “delicate” are doing the same job in this sentence, so one of them carries no information. This is a redundancy item, not a punctuation item, and “extremely” is emphasis rather than the error.
Where the point goes. Hunting for a comma error on a redundancy item burns most of the forty-two seconds a question that 50 items in 35 minutes leaves you. Classify the item before you start comparing replacements.

Two of the replacements keep both adjectives, one wrapping them in “of a … nature” and one reversing their order. NO CHANGE keeps both and adds an intensifier. Only fragile deletes the duplicated meaning, so fragile is the key.
Where the point goes. Shortest is usually right on this item type, but only because shortest usually means non-redundant. Picking by word count alone fails the moment the short option deletes something the sentence needs.
3Read it back in place
“The hand-drawn maps in the museum’s new wing are fragile, so they are displayed under low light and rotated out of the case every three months.” The cause and effect still holds and the clause after the comma is untouched.
Where the point goes. The replacement has to work inside the whole sentence, not just on its own line. A choice that reads well in isolation and breaks the clause it introduces is the standard distractor on this section.

We do not use, reproduce or resell official ACT questions or past papers, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by ACT, Inc.
How the score forecast is calculated
Your diagnostic gives a score range, not a point estimate, because a 25 minute sample cannot pin a 1 to 36 composite to a single point. The forecast on this page is a projection from typical gains at your starting band and your available hours. It is a projection, not a promise, and inside the app it is recalculated from your own results after every session.
What we do not promise
We do not promise a specific score. Nobody honestly can: your result depends on your starting point, your test date and the hours you actually put in. What we commit to is a plan built backwards from your target, a forecast that updates after every session, and an honest warning when a gap is too wide for the date you picked.
What we will not claim
We do not publish composite testimonials, invented score gains or an average point lift we cannot evidence. When we have enough verified before and after ACT score reports to publish a real average, we will publish the method with it.

The next national ACT is Saturday 19 September 2026, which opens the 2026 to 2027 testing year. The rest of the year runs 17 October and 12 December 2026, then 27 February, 10 April, 12 June and 10 July 2027. Regular registration closes about five weeks before each date, far earlier than the SAT. Full table is here; dates are set by ACT, Inc. and can change.
The core Enhanced ACT takes about 2 hours 5 minutes: English is 35 minutes for 50 questions, Math is 50 minutes for 45 questions, Reading is 40 minutes for 36 questions. Yes. Since the Enhanced ACT rolled out in 2025, Science no longer counts toward the composite and is reported as a separate score. Some colleges and programs still want it, so check the requirements of every school on your list before you pick your test option.
