From the digital course outline for the semester each guide names. Outlines at Auckland must include an assessment table with minimum pass requirements and any plussage arrangement, which is why the guides can show not just weights but the conditions attached to them.
Plussage lets a course count either the exam or test mark alone, or the combination of exam, test and coursework, whichever helps you more. Eligibility often depends on a minimum exam mark, sometimes 35 or 45 per cent, or on completing coursework and attending labs. Guides note when a course uses plussage.
Auckland runs a short study break between the last lecture and the exams: in Semester 1 2026 lectures end on Friday 5 June, the study break begins Monday 8 June and exams start Thursday 11 June. Guides covering a final exam place it against that pattern.
Grades map to points on a scale from 0 to 9, with A+ worth 9 for 90 to 100 per cent, A worth 8 and A- worth 7, and the GPA is the points average weighted by the point value of each course. The pass mark is 50 per cent unless a course sets a higher minimum.
