Reading the traceback from the top
The bottom line names the error and the line above it names your file. The tutor asks you to read it bottom up first, which usually locates the bug before any code changes.

Why a corrected file teaches nothing
Paste a broken function into a general assistant and you get a working one back, along with no idea what was wrong. The next bug is identical and just as opaque. The tutor leads with a question about what you expected to happen, because the gap between expectation and behaviour is where every bug lives.
