Personal AI Graphic Design Tutor Online That Teaches You to Do It Yourself

Upload the layout and the tutor asks what should be read first before commenting on anything, because design coursework is graded on whether the work answers the brief rather than on how it looks in isolation.

What is the AskSia AI graphic design tutor?

The AskSia AI graphic design tutor is a personal tutoring tool that critiques your own work against your brief rather than producing designs. It asks what the piece is supposed to communicate and in what order, explains why an element is or is not reading first, and hands the revision back to you. It covers typography, hierarchy, grid and layout, colour, composition, brand identity, image preparation, software workflow, critique language and portfolio development. It answers in eight languages. Students on the AskSia A+ plan are covered by the Grade Confidence Guarantee. AskSia is a study aid, not an answer key, and it does not produce artwork for submission.

Design critiques repeat three notes, and each points at a decision rather than a taste.

01

Everything competing for attention

When several elements are emphasised none of them reads first, and the piece feels busy rather than bold. The tutor asks what should be read first and second.

02

Alignment by eye instead of by grid

Near alignment reads as an error rather than as a choice, and it is the fastest thing a marker notices. The tutor asks what each edge is aligned to.

03

Defending a choice with preference

I liked it is not a justification, and design assessment asks you to argue from the brief. The tutor asks what the decision does for the audience.

Your marks are not lost evenly, so your practice is not spread evenly. Try this one.

VISUAL HIERARCHY
A poster has a large headline, a large image and a large call to action. Why does the hierarchy fail?
Why B. Hierarchy is created by difference rather than by size in absolute terms, so three equally dominant elements compete and the eye has no entry point. Reducing two of them creates the contrast that makes the third read first, which is usually a subtraction rather than an addition.

Four things a design tutor does that a chat box does not

Why the brief is the standard

Design coursework is not marked on whether the work is attractive but on whether it does the job the brief set, and whether you can say why each decision serves it. The tutor asks what the piece has to communicate and to whom before it comments on anything visual.

Personal here means it remembers which decision keeps repeating. If your typography is strong but every layout has three competing focal points, that pattern is tracked across projects and raised before the next critique.

It works in English, German, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.

Will it design something for me?

No. It critiques your own work against your brief and hands the revision back. It does not produce artwork for submission.

Can it review a layout I upload?

Yes. It works through reading order, alignment and contrast, and names which decision is producing the effect you were marked down for.

Does it help with written rationales?

Yes, and this is where many design students lose marks. It asks what each decision does for the audience rather than accepting a statement of preference.

Does it cover accessibility?

Yes, including colour contrast and type legibility, which most current design courses assess directly.

Can it help with portfolio sequencing?

Yes, including which work to lead with and how much process to show, which differs by the kind of role you are applying for.

Is using an AI design tutor allowed?

AskSia is built as a study aid, not an answer key, and it does not produce submitted artwork. Check your own faculty's policy before using any tool on graded work.
