Using AskSia honestly

Privacy · Updated June 2026

We built AskSia to help you learn — not to do your work for you. It's a study companion, not a homework-copying service. The whole point is that you walk away actually understanding the material, so you can do it again on your own when it counts. Here's how to get the most out of it, honestly.

A learning tool, not a shortcut

AskSia is designed to help you understand, not just to hand you an answer. When you ask Sia about something, you get step-by-step explanations that walk through the why and the how — and every answer is cited back to your own materials, down to the page, slide, or timestamp it came from. That's deliberate. We'd rather you learn the method than copy a result, because the method is what you keep.

Always follow your school's policy

Every institution has its own academic-integrity policy, and those rules come first. Before you use AskSia — or any AI tool — for a graded assignment, exam, or submission, check what your course and school allow. Policies vary by class and by professor, so when in doubt, ask your instructor. AskSia is here to support honest learning within those rules, never to get around them.

How to use it well

A few habits turn AskSia from an answer box into a real study partner:

  • Ask for the why and the steps, not just the final answer. "Walk me through how to solve this" teaches you far more than "what's the answer."
  • Verify with the citations. AI can make mistakes, so use the cited sources to jump back to your own materials and confirm the explanation holds up. Checking it yourself is part of learning it.
  • Quiz yourself. Turn a reading or lecture into a Quiz and Flashcards with one click, then test what you actually remember — not just what you recognize.
  • Prepare for office hours, don't skip them. Use Sia to figure out exactly where you're stuck, then bring those sharper questions to your professor or TA. The best learning still happens face to face.

Why we built it this way

We genuinely believe AskSia is here to make learning work better, not to replace it. It's grounded in your own materials and it shows its sources, because understanding your course — your syllabus, your lectures, your readings — is the goal. Used honestly, it helps you learn more in less time and walk into the exam confident you earned it.
