The course outline or class summary for the offering each guide names. ANU policy requires teaching staff to set out every assessment task, its weighting and its timing there, and requires any hurdle to be listed in that same document, so the class summary is the reference the guides are checked against.
A hurdle is an assessment component you must complete or pass irrespective of your total mark. If a hurdle is failed or not attempted and no supplementary assessment is offered, the recorded result is NCN, Not Completed Fail, rather than a mark. Guides mark hurdle rows so you can see which items carry that condition.
The University calendar names a Semester 1 examination period and a Semester 2 examination period rather than a study week: in 2026 they run 4 to 20 June and 5 to 21 November. Guides that cover a final exam tell you whether it sits inside that period or is run by the school during the teaching weeks.
ANU converts each grade to a point value on a seven point scale, with HD worth 7 for marks of 80 to 100, multiplies that by the units the course is worth, sums the weighted scores and divides by the total units. Because the scale is coarse, the difference between 79 and 80 matters more than the difference between 80 and 95.

ANU Library no longer keeps a repository of past examination papers; its electronic collection holds only the papers that were supplied to it and is incomplete, and the University directs students to the lecturer or course convener for earlier semesters. AskSia guides do not host papers either. What they carry is the examination format as the class summary describes it, broken down by question type and placed beside the weights it belongs to, with one worked example marked in full.
