Connect Blackboard to AskSia

Blackboard works a little differently depending on whether your school runs Blackboard Learn Original or the newer Ultra experience. The connection flow is the same either way — AskSia figures out the rest.

Step-by-step

1. In AskSia, open Settings → Integrations and choose Connect Blackboard.
2. Enter your school's Blackboard URL. It usually looks like blackboard.yourschool.edu or learn.yourschool.edu.
3. You'll be sent to your school's standard Blackboard sign-in page. Sign in normally — through SSO if your school uses it, or with your Blackboard credentials. AskSia is never in the middle of that.
4. Approve the read-only permission scope and you'll be returned to AskSia.
5. Your active courses populate within a few seconds. If the count looks short, give it a minute — large schools take a little longer on the first pull.

What you'll see synced

• Course list for your current enrollments.
• Course content areas, including documents and folders.
• Syllabi (when posted as a regular document — Blackboard's "Syllabus tool" is also supported).
• Assignments and due dates.

Blackboard quirks worth knowing

Blackboard Original is older, and some schools have years of legacy structure. If a folder is set with a custom availability window, AskSia respects it — meaning content that's scheduled to release next week won't appear until the instructor opens it. That's the right behavior, but it can look like a sync miss.

If your school uses Blackboard Ultra, expect the integration to feel faster on the first sync, because Ultra's API is cleaner. Both versions work.

The token expired — now what?

Blackboard tokens expire on a school-set schedule (often every 30 to 90 days). When that happens, you'll see a small banner in AskSia asking you to reconnect. The reconnect is one click — you don't lose any saved cheat sheets, library packs, or study history.
