Connect Canvas to AskSia

LMS · Last updated May 2026

Canvas is the LMS we see most often, and the connection is one of the smoothest. Once it's hooked up, every course, syllabus, and module from your current term shows up inside AskSia automatically.

Connect Canvas in five steps

  1. Inside AskSia, go to Settings → Integrations.
  2. Click Connect Canvas.
  3. Type your school's Canvas URL — usually something like canvas.yourschool.edu. AskSia auto-detects most schools as you type.
  4. You'll be redirected to your school's normal Canvas sign-in. Log in the way you always do — through your school SSO, Google, or your Canvas password. AskSia never sees the password. The connection is OAuth-based.
  5. Approve the read-only scope and you'll be sent back to AskSia. Your courses appear within a few seconds.

What syncs

  • Your enrolled courses for the current term.
  • Syllabi, modules, files, and pages.
  • Assignment names, due dates, and rubrics — useful when AskSia builds your study plan.
  • Announcements (so the tutor knows when something changed).

What doesn't sync

We don't pull your grades unless you specifically opt in for the Grade Confidence Guarantee verification. We don't sync messages with instructors. We don't sync quizzes you've already submitted.

A couple of Canvas-specific notes

If your school uses a sub-account that lives at a different URL (some research universities and large public systems do this), enter the exact URL — not the parent domain. If a course is set as unpublished by the instructor, AskSia can't see it until the instructor opens it up; that's a Canvas-side permission, not something we can override.

Recorded lectures usually live inside an external tool (echo360 or similar). For those, see Connect echo360 to AskSia — running both integrations together is what unlocks the full study experience.
