Connect Moodle to AskSia

Moodle is open-source and your school probably hosts its own instance, which means the connection is a little different from the bigger commercial LMSes. It's still simple — it just has one extra step where you grab a personal access token from Moodle directly. We'll walk you through it.

Step 1 — Generate your token in Moodle

Log into your school's Moodle as you normally would. Go to Preferences → User account → Security keys (the exact wording varies by Moodle theme; some schools rename the menu). You should see an entry for AskSia mobile / external service. Copy that token. If it's not there yet, your school's Moodle admin needs to enable the external service — email them or paste the URL in our support inbox and we'll send them a one-liner.

Step 2 — Paste it into AskSia

1. Open Settings → Integrations.
2. Click Connect Moodle.
3. Enter your Moodle URL (something like moodle.yourschool.edu).
4. Paste the access token you copied.
5. Click Connect. Your courses appear within a few seconds.

What gets synced

• Your enrolled courses for the current term.
• Course sections, resource files, and book modules.
• Assignment metadata (titles, due dates).
• Forum titles — useful when the tutor cites what your class has been discussing.

One thing to know about Moodle

Because Moodle is self-hosted, every school's setup is slightly different. Some hide the external-service permissions, some keep them open. If your sync only pulls a fraction of your courses, the most common reason is that the Moodle admin restricted the token's scope. A short email to your school's IT desk usually fixes it.
