GDPR and data requests
If you're in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with an equivalent data-protection law (LGPD in Brazil, PIPL in China, the CCPA/CPRA in California, PIPEDA in Canada, the Privacy Act in Australia), you have specific rights over the data we hold about you. We honor those rights for every user, regardless of where you live — but we want you to know the formal process.
Your rights
- Access — get a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — correct anything that's wrong.
- Erasure — have your data deleted ("right to be forgotten").
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format you can take elsewhere.
- Restriction — ask us to pause processing while a question is being resolved.
- Objection — object to certain kinds of processing.
How to make a request
Email privacy@asksia.ai. Subject line: Data Request — [Type of request] — [Your account email]. In the body, include:
- Which right you're exercising.
- The email address on your AskSia account.
- Enough detail for us to verify you (we may ask a follow-up question to be sure).
- If it's an access or portability request, the format you'd prefer (JSON or CSV).
Timeline
We acknowledge within 72 hours. We fulfill the request within 30 days — usually much faster. If the request is unusually complex, we may extend by another 60 days under GDPR Article 12(3), and we'll tell you why.
Cost
Free. We won't charge you to exercise rights you already have, and we won't make the process annoying.
If you're under 16
In some jurisdictions, data requests for users under 16 need to come through a parent or legal guardian. If that applies to you, email us — we'll guide you through the verification.
Complaints
You always have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. We'd rather you talk to us first — we tend to fix the underlying issue rather than fight a complaint — but the right is yours.
