How assessment works at Arizona State University

Where do the weights on these ASU guides come from?

From the syllabus for the class and session the guide names. Each guide reproduces that grading table, states whether the class is a Session A, B or C offering, and names the syllabus file the numbers were read from.

Is an A+ worth more than an A at ASU?

On a single class, yes: the plus and minus scale gives A+ a value of 4.33 against 4.00 for an A. The cumulative GPA, however, is capped at 4.00, so A+ grades lift individual class records but cannot push the overall average above four.

When is finals week, and does every class use it?

Fall 2026 finals week is December 7 to 12 for Session C classes, with the exam slot set by the regular meeting time. Classes in Session A or B hold their final on the last day of class instead, and a once a week class starting at or after 4:30 pm or on Saturday sits a one hour fifty minute final at its usual time during finals week.

What if I have three finals in one day?

Students with more than three exams on one day, or with a direct clash, are told to work it out with their instructors first and to escalate to the relevant dean if that fails. Guides state the exam format the syllabus gives so you can see early which finals are in person and which are online.

Is AskSia connected to Arizona State University?

No. AskSia is independent of Arizona State University. Each guide is written by AskSia from the syllabus and course materials it cites, and every figure names the session it was read from.

      Past exams at ASU

ASU does not publish a university wide archive of past exams; practice material is posted by instructors inside Canvas for their own sections. AskSia guides rebuild the exam from the syllabus instead, laying out the weight and format of each test beside the finals week rules for the session the class runs in, so you know whether your final sits in finals week or on the last day of class before you start reviewing.
