How assessment works at Rutgers University

Where do the weights on these Rutgers guides come from?

From the syllabus for the section and term the guide names, which at Rutgers carries the full course number in the 01:640:103 form: school, subject and course. Each guide reproduces the grading table from that syllabus and cites the file.

Why is there no A minus or A+ at Rutgers?

The undergraduate scale has no minus grades and no A+. A is worth 4.0, B+ 3.5, B 3.0, C+ 2.5, C 2.0, D 1.0 and F 0, so a plus is worth exactly half a point. Guides quote the syllabus cutoffs for each letter where they are printed.

When are reading days and finals in Fall 2026?

Classes end on Thursday December 10, reading days run from Friday December 11 to Monday December 14, and the final exam period runs from Tuesday December 15 to Tuesday December 22. Exam slots are assigned from the class meeting pattern on the published grid.

What counts as an exam conflict at Rutgers?

More than two exams beginning within a 25 hour period, or two exams scheduled in the same slot. In the last two weeks of classes only quizzes and tests worth less than 20 per cent of the grade are allowed, and a final cannot be disguised as an hourly exam or a weekly assignment.

Is AskSia connected to Rutgers University?

No. AskSia is independent of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Each guide is written by AskSia from the syllabus and course materials it cites, and every figure names the term it was read from.

      Past exams at Rutgers

Rutgers does not publish a central archive of past finals; departments and instructors share old exams at their own discretion, often through Canvas. AskSia guides rebuild the exam from the syllabus and the scheduling rules instead: the weight and format of each test, whether the final falls in the December 15 to 22 exam period, and how the reading days sit before it, so old papers you do find can be judged against the current format.
