ENGR10006 Chap.13 Reports, Video Presentations, Demos and Peer Scaling
Reports, Video Presentations, Demos and Peer Scaling
Most of the team marks arrive at the end of semester, so this chapter brings the deliverables together.
It follows the report writing guide's structure and formatting rules, the four rubric criteria with method, results and analysis worth 40 of the 100 marks, and the compliance checklist that deducts 4 marks per unmet item up to 12. It covers writing conventions for figures, tables, equations, the passive-voice method and APA 7th referencing.
It then sets out the two-minute video and its four equally weighted criteria, the stream-specific demonstrations, and how Peer Assessments 2 and 3 produce scale factors, usually between 0.8 and 1.2, that moderate the video and report marks for each member.
Worked examples carry a team mark through compliance deductions and peer scaling to each member's share of the subject, and practice items fix captions and explain the extension route.

Planning the final stretch from the deadline timeline
- +1From Friday 23 October to Monday 2 November is 10 days.
- +1Set an internal deadline two days early, Saturday 31 October, for a complete draft with every figure numbered and every appendix cited.
- +1Use the last two days to export the PDF and run the six compliance checks on it: abstract of 250 words or fewer, contents, page numbers, APA 7th, plan and minutes appended, appendices referred to.
Key terms
- Compliance checklist
- Six format items checked on the report, each unmet item costing 4 marks up to 12.
- Abstract
- A stand-alone summary of up to 250 words stating what was done, how, what was found and why it matters.
- Passive voice
- A sentence form that states what was done rather than who did it, used in the method.
- APA 7th style
- The referencing style required throughout the report.
- Storyboard
- A planned sequence of scenes used to structure the video presentation.
- Peer assessment
- Ratings of team members whose relative values produce scale factors for team marks.
- Scale factor cap
- The usual limits of 0.8 and 1.2 on a peer-assessment multiplier, with lower values reviewed case by case.
Reports, Video Presentations, Demos and Peer Scaling FAQ
What is the page limit for the final report?
The writing guide sets 30 pages, not counting the front pages, meaning the title, abstract and contents, or the appendices. The report must use A4 with 2.5 cm margins, text of at least 12 point, captions at 11 point and 1.5 line spacing.
Which report criterion carries the most marks?
Method, results and analysis is worth 40 of the 100 marks. Its good band asks for a method detailed enough to reproduce, theory used to justify choices, analysed results, and an account of how the team worked with reference to the team management plan.
What happens if our video runs over two minutes?
The guide limits the video to 2 minutes and says presentations that run overtime will be penalised. It must also be MP4 or MOV under 500 MB, use only your own project material, and include roughly equal contributions from every member.
Can we get an extension on the final report?
A team can apply for an extension through Special Consideration. The FAQ sets the maximum for any team assessment at 7 calendar days, and an approved extension automatically extends the matching peer assessment for every member of the group.
Assessment move
Plan the report from the rubric backwards. Draft headings that map onto the four criteria, then write the method first from your workshop logs and minutes, results second with every figure numbered and discussed, and the abstract last. Allocate pages before writing so the body stays within 30, and move derivations and raw data into appendices that are listed in the contents and cited in the text.
Run the six compliance checks on the final PDF, not the draft. For the video, storyboard two minutes of project story using your own footage and simulation outputs, give every member a visible role and rehearse the timing. For the demonstration, read your stream's rubric and practise against it, including the pre-submission deadline.
Complete every peer assessment on time and write specific, fair comments, because the scale factors that follow moderate a large share of each member's mark. Leave at least a day between the last edit and submission for a final read of the PDF by someone who did not write the section. Check the submission page once more after uploading to confirm the right file was received.
