Findings, Recommendations and Client Pitch

Why Findings, Recommendations and Client Pitch matters

The unit culminates in analysis, recommendations, a client pitch and written proposal work. The chapter therefore treats research finding, recommendation and client evidence story as different reasoning roles.

Research Finding defines the object and scale; recommendation explains a relationship or transformation; client evidence story checks whether the preferred account survives a changed condition.

The central application is to connect evidence to a feasible action while separating result, interpretation and recommendation.

For Research Finding, begin by recording what is observed or supplied, then separate that evidence from the interpretation placed on it. For Research Finding, this matters because a correct term can still be attached to the wrong object, time scale, comparison or decision.

Trace the mechanism

Explain recommendation with an active verb and a visible chain.

Name the starting condition, the change or relation, and the outcome. For Research Finding, if the evidence admits another reading, state the extra observation that would distinguish the accounts rather than pretending the ambiguity has disappeared.

Use client evidence story as a real test. Change one relevant fact while holding unrelated conditions fixed.

For Research Finding, then identify the first step that fails, retain the premises that remain supported and propagate only the consequences of the repair. This produces a controlled revision instead of a second unrelated answer.

Keep the boundary operational

A recommendation is not supported merely because it is plausible; the evidence must address the client decision and alternatives.

For Research Finding, in practice, the boundary should tell you what to inspect, calculate, compare or qualify. For Research Finding, a generic limitations sentence is not enough; name the evidence that would move the case outside the model and the narrower claim that would remain defensible.

For Research Finding, build a compact evidence ledger with four columns: observation, concept, inference and alternative.

Put research finding and recommendation in different rows before combining them. For Research Finding, this makes it easier to find a scale error, reversed direction or hidden assumption before it reaches the conclusion.

Prepare for assessment

Practise by reconstructing research finding, recommendation and client evidence story without notes.

For Research Finding, complete a changed version of the chapter task, compare it with the initial case and explain why the result remains, narrows or reverses. For Research Finding, keep the answer tied to the evidence instead of reproducing a memorised paragraph.

For Research Finding, when using a table, diagram or calculation, check that it expresses the same relationship as the prose.

For Research Finding, labels must identify the actual variables or geological objects, arrows must follow the claimed direction, and units or scales must remain visible wherever they affect interpretation.

A strong response finishes by answering the question at the supported scale. For Research Finding, it does not assert that a rule, hurdle or condition is absent merely because it was not found in one item.

For Research Finding, administrative uncertainty belongs in a direction to confirm on Canvas; conceptual uncertainty belongs in the reasoning itself.

Finally, keep a repair log. For Research Finding, record the first failed move, why it failed and the check that would catch it next time.

For Findings, Recommendations and Client Pitch, the most useful entries distinguish misclassification of research finding, an unsupported recommendation link and a client evidence story test that cannot actually alter the conclusion.

Findings, Recommendations and Client Pitch changed-case audit

Q [6 marks]. AskSia-authored practice. Connect evidence to a feasible action while separating result, interpretation and recommendation. Change one condition and explain whether the conclusion survives. The weighting is a study aid, not a University marking scheme.
  • 2Define research finding at the case scale.
  • 2Trace recommendation through the evidence.
  • 2Use client evidence story to qualify the result.
The model response fixes research finding, makes the recommendation link explicit, changes one relevant condition and uses client evidence story to retain, narrow or reverse the conclusion. It remains inside this boundary: A recommendation is not supported merely because it is plausible; the evidence must address the client decision and alternatives.
Sia tip — Write the first sentence in which recommendation changes the result; then test that sentence with client evidence story.
Glossary

Key terms

Research Finding
Research Finding names the starting concept for the task to Connect evidence to a feasible action while separating result, interpretation and recommendation. It fixes the relevant evidence and scale before interpretation begins.
Recommendation
Recommendation describes the link required to Connect evidence to a feasible action while separating result, interpretation and recommendation. Its direction must be stated and supported by observed or supplied evidence.
Client Evidence Story
Client Evidence Story is the diagnostic used while attempting to Connect evidence to a feasible action while separating result, interpretation and recommendation. It tests the preferred account against this limit: A recommendation is not supported merely because it is plausible; the evidence must address the client decision and alternatives.
FAQ

Findings, Recommendations and Client Pitch FAQ

When should a researcher narrow the Research Finding claim using Client Evidence Story?

The unit culminates in analysis, recommendations, a client pitch and written proposal work. The practical response is to connect evidence to a feasible action while separating result, interpretation and recommendation. Use this boundary to decide what survives: A recommendation is not supported merely because it is plausible; the evidence must address the client decision and alternatives.

Name the altered evidence, repair the first affected link, and report a qualified conclusion.

Study strategy

Assessment move

Retrieve research finding, recommendation and client evidence story; complete the changed case; then repair the first move that violates this boundary: A recommendation is not supported merely because it is plausible; the evidence must address the client decision and alternatives.
