A hurdle is a requirement you must meet on its own to pass the course, whatever your total mark; a course outline states the component and the condition, such as a minimum mark in the final exam. UNSW records a course failed on an essential component as UF, Unsatisfactory Fail. Guides flag every hurdle in the weight column.
UNSW runs three main terms a year (Term 1, Term 2 and Term 3) plus an optional Summer Term, and final examinations take place at the end of each teaching period, after a study period of about a week. From 2028 UNSW moves to two semesters with optional summer and winter terms. Each guide that covers a final exam names the term it was built from and which components sit in the exam period.
Your Weighted Average Mark is the sum of each course mark multiplied by its units of credit, divided by the total units of credit, so a 6 unit course counts exactly as much as any other 6 unit course. A High Distinction is 85 to 100 in a course, so the guides order revision by the components that carry the most marks.

The UNSW Library does not hold past exam papers and cannot provide copies; it directs students to their school, faculty or lecturer. Exams themselves may run on campus as invigilated face-to-face or pen-and-paper tests, or remotely as non-invigilated online assessments, depending on the course. AskSia guides do not host exam papers. What they give you instead is the exam format for each course as published for the term the guide names.
